does a nerd blog have to sit dormant before it's considered abandonware?
A quick profile of SID the Kid, my C=64 music machine.
- Dual SID mod, addressed at $DF00. Both are 6581 R2's (I like it dirty)
- Relocated RF circuitry
- SVideo output added
- "Stereo" phono jacks (one for each SID)
- Four pots added to the case and wired to the paddle inputs to control Prophet64, with on/off switches for each pair
I'm mainly using Prophet64, a very cool cart with a mono synth, a bassline synth, a drum machine, and a very cool sequencer. The audio on a 17" LCD is awesome to work on. Over all, a very cool system.
Things to do:
- Build a MIDI interface. Or sell the P64 cart and buy a MSSIAH cart when they come out in a couple of months (built-in MIDI). Knowing me, by the time I get around to the former, I may as well just do the latter.
- Fix the the pots. They rotate reverse of the v-knobs in P64, and they jitter like crazy.
- Wire the 1541 Ultimate internally, when it shows up (it's coming from Europe). I'll need to leave the card edge exposed somehow so I can make a jumper between it and the cart port.

Ok, so I'm going to start posting to a blog again.
Sort-of.
I've had blogs before. One (bluehysteria, r.i.p.) was full of relatively personal, moderately-revelatory, yet chokingly repressed posts. I have a buzznet, that's got little repression, but also little to repress. I mostly use it as a moblog and as a place to banter with like-minded, intelligent people about mundane rubbish. I made some half-assed attempts to set up other 'blog-ish-self-expression' sites, but they sputtered and died before they began.
So here I am. I originally signed up only to view cobradeathmatch's blog, and ended up, fortuitously, running into a friend from a long, long, time ago.
Why am I posting here? Because I'm too lazy/disinterested to set up a blog engine on my proper domain, and because the tools here are just so damn easy to use, and because...well, just because. Fuck it.
What am I going to post here? Mostly nerdgasms. Hardcore geekporn makes all of my pleasure receptors light up like the front panel of an Imsai 8080. And if you got that, you'll be fine here...
